About the Recipe
Growing up, I had the privilege to learn from my Great-Grandma how to cook at different temperatures in order to make the family Christmas candy. This technique can also be used to make cookies WITHOUT the use of an oven. In addition to that, my mom also shared with me that this recipe can often be used during camping when you don't have a stove to bake in! What a great, simple recipe to enjoy some oat cookies.

Ingredients
2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup peanut butter (I use creamy but you can use chunky too!)
3 cups old fashioned rolled oats
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Preparation
Step 1
Bring sugar, cocoa powder, butter and milk to a rapid boil. Stirring frequently to avoid burning.
Step 2
Rapid boil for 1 minute.
Step 3
Remove from heat and quickly add vanilla and peanut butter. Stir until blended, then add the oats. Mix until oats are evenly coated.
Step 4
Quickly drop large spoonfuls of recipe onto wax paper or parchment paper and allow to dry. These are better the next day once the oats have softened.
